What is Backgammon’s BMAB and Why Does it Matter?

The BMAB is the gold standard of backgammon player performance. Anyone wishing to be a top competitive player should participate in BMAB events yielding experience points and performance ratings.

The BMAB rating provides a personal yardstick for improving performance and a qualifying credential for grandmaster and master status.

Currently there are 250 BMAB qualified grandmasters and masters. Only four women currently hold performance ratings at the masters level (two pending accumulation of sufficient experience points); none at the grandmaster level.

Women in Backgammon applauds and supports women in their quest to become BMAB certified grandmasters and masters.
