Women in Backgammon 2023 Online Mixed Doubles Tournament

Round 3 of the Women in Backgammon Mixed Doubles tournament on May 9 will determine the teams qualifying for the finals! You will find the information on how to watch Round 3 at the bottom of this email.

In the Intermediate division only one team has a 2-0 win-loss record – Christine Merser and Mary Morse. Christine is the co-founder of Women in Backgammon; her game has made a giant leap forward with coaching from Grandmaster Zdenek Zizka. Mary was the 2022 U.S. Online Women’s Champion and recent winner of the Texas Championship division Last Chance event. If they win Round 3 against Yvonne Dalpay and Richard Battin they will take the prize pool and copies of The Backgammon Gourmet book donated by the authors! If they fall victim to Yvonne and Richard, Round 4 will see a Playoff among the 3-4 teams with 2-1 win-loss records. It will be a stunning & suspenseful show!

In the Championship division six teams are still alive in the event which started with 24 teams. They include Hall of Famers, Giants of Backgammon, Grandmasters/Masters, US women’s backgammon team victorious in the 2022 Genud Cup against the UK, and winners of major national and international tournaments – the crème de la crème! The winning three teams will go into a finals playoff to determine 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place!
