The WWB Peer Coaching Program helps women improve their backgammon skills in a supportive, welcoming environment while building connections with other women who share a passion for the game.
Launched in February 2024, the program brings together players of all skill levels for weekly Zoom sessions held on Fridays at 6:00 PM Eastern. Participants play consultation matches using eXtreme Gammon (XG), discussing moves and cube decisions together while receiving immediate feedback on their choices.
Led by Karen Davis, the sessions encourage active discussion, strategic thinking, and collaborative learning. Players gain a deeper understanding of the game by exploring alternative plays and the reasoning behind strong decisions.
Beyond improving backgammon skills, the program has fostered a vibrant community where women support one another, form study partnerships, and build lasting friendships. WWB also hosts occasional special learning events featuring accomplished players and instructors from the backgammon community.
What began as an idea in 2023 has grown into an international community of women building confidence, improving their game, and helping create a stronger future for women in backgammon.
We extend our sincere appreciation to WWB Associate Director Stephanie Blackton for her dedication and leadership in coordinating the program and creating a welcoming experience for all participants.
