Women’s World of Backgammon (WWB) champions women’s participation, visibility, and excellence at every level of competitive play.

INCREASING WOMEN'S TOURNAMENT PLAY TURNOUT

A core part of our mission is bringing more women to competitive backgammon tables — and supporting them every step of the way.

We believe women should compete with competence and confidence. That means providing not only prize money, but also meaningful support before, during, and after tournaments.

What have we learned about women and tournament play?

Fewer than 20% of tournament entries are from women.
Many women feel uncomfortable walking into unfamiliar tournament spaces, especially when they may be significantly outnumbered.
Entering a tournament for the first time is easier when you know other women and understand what to expect.
Travel, entry fees, and lodging can be financial barriers. Prize support and scholarships help make participation more accessible.

SOME INITIAL SOLUTIONS

We have slated several tournaments in the USBGF's roster to support with awards and support. We will either provide some added prize money, a branded jacket from WWB, free lessons or match recording equipment for the winners depending on the situation.

Women’s World of Backgammon provides introductions and camaraderie during tournaments, including, for example, pairing competing women together upon request. We will introduce you so you have a female mentor or friendly face to help walk you through the particulars.
