Would you like to play backgammon with some of the world’s finest women players in the upcoming online World Backgammon Internet Federation (WBIF) Women’s World Championship, but aren’t sure what’s entailed?Join us TOMORROW, Tuesday, June 25 at 8:30 pm EST, and Women’s World of Backgammon will help walk you through the process.
The Zoom session will answer any questions you have and cover the basics of participating:
- How to set up a WBIF account with a username and password if you don’t have one
- How to pay fees for the Women’s World Championship (30 Euro entry fee; 10 Euro annual WBIF membership fee)
- How to register for the tournament – deadline June 30
- How to get a Heroes.BackgammonStudio.com account if you don’t already have one – all matches are played on Heroes in the WBIF Tournament Room
- How to understand the format of the tournament – first phase of Americas (North/Central/South America) regional qualifiers, 13-point matches, Swiss/Round Robin format, five guaranteed matches; final phase Playoff playing the top 33% of women from three regions (Americas, Europe/Africa, Asia/Australia/Oceania)
- How to know whom you are scheduled to play and how to schedule your match
- How to go on Heroes and play your match
- How to report your results
- What are the prizes for placing
