Karen Davis and Tiffany Van will compete in the semi-finals of the 2023 U.S. Online Women's World Championship Thursday, December 14, at 7 PM EST.
Come join the Backgammon. Winning. Women. Zoom session and watch this contest between two of the top U.S. women backgammon players, along with expert commentary by Joe Russell and Roberto Litzenberger. The winner will play Leyla Zaloutskaya for the U.S. Championship.
Karen Davis is a member of the American Backgammon Hall of Fame; holds the BMAB (Backgammon Masters Awarding Body) rank of Master Class 2; winner of the USBGF Women’s National Championship, 2022. She was captain of the U.S. Women’s Team in the Genud Cup, 2022 and 2020 and U.S. Player of the Event. This year she was 2nd in the 2023 Cherry Blossom Masters Jackpot; 1st in the Cherry Blossom Doubles with Kent Goulding (2023) and 1st in the Consolation of Sunny Florida. She held the #1 ranking in USBGF Online Master Points for 2021 and is #2 all-time. Her most significant backgammon tournament accomplishment was winning the Super Jackpot, NY Metro (2019) defeating Grandmaster Sebastian Wilkinson in the final. She was a Member of the winning U.S. Team, Magriel Cup, 2020; Member, U.S. Team, World Backgammon Federation World Team Championship, 2021 and 2019; She was a member of the USBGF Board of Directors 2009-2022, serving as Board Chair from 2010 to 2017, and as the Federation’s President and Executive Director from 2017 to 2020. She is the President and Executive Director of the U.S. Backgammon Foundation, the 501(c) (3) counterpart of the USBGF.
Tiffany Van is a shooting star in the women’s backgammon firmament! She shot to fame by winning the Michigan Fireworks Women in Backgammon Cup in 2022. She went on to win the Intermediate division of the Texas Championships in 2023 along with tying for 4th-6th in the Alamo Classic Limited Jackpot. Most recently she won the Intermediate division of the St, Louis Gateway where she also won the Speedgammon Intermediate event.
