Review of Final of the WBGF Women’s World Team Championship between Team USA and Team UK

Come join us for a recap of difficult decisions in the historic Final of the World Backgammon Federation Inaugural Women’s World Team Championship between Team USA and Team UK held in Stockholm Sweden in July.

The Zoom session discussion on Tuesday September 10 at 2 pm Eastern (7 pm UK time) will be moderated by Roberto Litzenberger, co-director of the BMAB Players Cup.

The Women’s Team USA won the Final with the UK after a grueling round-robin first phase with eight participating countries: Denmark, France, the Republic of Georgia, Germany, Norway, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The U.S. team went on to defeat Norway in a closely contested semi-final match, while the UK defeated the Republic of Georgia to advance to the final. All of the teams fielded strong teams of women players with the result that all the matches were closely contested.

On September 10, we will be joined in the Zoom session by Julia Hayward (captain of the UK team) and several of the UK women’s team participants (Becca Bell, Anna Parker, Anna Price, Rachel Rhodes, and Merrin Rose) as well as Karen Davis (captain of the USA team), Irina Litzenberger, Rain Ackerman, Lynda Clay, and Teri Harmon. Leyla Zaloutskaya, another excellent member of Team USA, is unable to make the session.
